The next destination in our list was the Mercado Benito Juarez Oaxaca Mexico which has carved out a niche for itself thanks to its ability to stun you with the vibrancy and abundance of things put up on display.

The entire place is divided into a number of small open air markets which are bound to confuse you with their wide range of options. One can easily find a large number of exclusive handcrafted items, baskets made up of spicy grasshoppers or locally known as chapulines, piles of mole paste, stacks of chillies and heaps of fresh produce.

There is no doubt about the fact that the food markets are the main attraction of the city. They maintain a stock of some of the rarest spices found in the world. We also tasted a number of food items such as tortillas, tamales and empanadas which could be consumed on spot. There were many women who were shouting at the top of their voice to lure customers into their food stalls. The manner in which large number of colourful fruits of almost all kinds was arranged in an organized fashion was simply awesome.

The sight of colourful fruits cut into pieces and kept on plates in numerous shops arranged in a row was very eye pleasing. We also drank some peculiar fruit juices prepared by using a rare combination of unseen but fresh fruits. We had a lot of fun in exploring all the wide range of items on display. The efforts made by the shopkeepers to attract customers, especially the foreign ones, gave us a lot of fun. There were many stalls selling leather goods, chocolates, vegetables, etc.
